The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service office in Gillespie County will host “Reducing Wildfire Danger at Home” workshop on May 15.

The workshop will run from 6-7:30 p.m. at the AgriLife Extension office, 38 Business Court, Fredericksburg.

The cost is $15 plus a small credit card fee, which includes heavy snacks. Online registration is available at https://tx.ag/GillespieExt, and closes at noon on May 14. Walk-ins will be accepted on the day of the workshop.

Wildfire danger topics and speakers 

During the workshop, attendees will learn about the following: 

  • Fire risk factors for homes and landscapes.
  • Reducing wildfire intensity around homes.
  • Landscapes less likely to burn.

Speakers include:

  • Kevin Knapick, AgriLife Extension Disaster Assessment and Recovery specialist, Fredericksburg.
  • Beth McMahon, AgriLife Extension horticulture agent for Gillespie County.
