Davidson Creek watershed meeting set for April 29 in Caldwell
Local stakeholders invited to learn about, contribute to improving water quality
The Texas Water Resources Institute, TWRI, will host a meeting for local residents and stakeholders to contribute to the Davidson Creek Watershed Protection Plan on April 29 in Caldwell.

The meeting will begin at noon at the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service office in Burleson County, 1516 Farm-to-Market Road 166, Caldwell. Those who plan to attend are asked to RSVP at tx.ag/DavidsonApril29.
Davidson Creek is a tributary of the larger Yegua Creek within the Brazos River watershed. The impaired stream runs south out of Caldwell toward Somerville. Anyone interested in the water quality of Davidson Creek should attend the meeting and be involved in the plan development process.
This and subsequent meetings will serve as a public input forum, which will inform the development of a voluntary, stakeholder-driven watershed protection plan, WPP, to to outline strategies that can improve local water quality.
About the watershed protection plan
The WPP will address known issues with water quality in Davidson Creek.
“Water samples collected by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality and TWRI confirmed that the lower section of Davidson Creek is impaired due to elevated bacteria concentration and low dissolved oxygen levels, “said Amanda Tague, TWRI research specialist, Texas A&M AgriLife Research, Bryan-College Station.
The meeting will recap what was discussed during the Feb. 19 kickoff meeting and dive deeper into stakeholder organizational frameworks.
The Texas State Soil and Water Conservation Board provides funding for developing the Davidson Creek WPP through the State Nonpoint Source Grant Program.
TWRI is a unit of Texas A&M AgriLife Research that brings together expertise from across The Texas A&M University System.
