Do Well Be Well with Diabetes series set for Wednesdays in October
Participants will learn skills needed to understand and manage their diabetes
The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service office in McLennan County and McLennan Community College are hosting a Do Well Be Well with Diabetes series in Waco.
The five-week series, which will be held on Wednesday evenings from 5:30-7:30 p.m. beginning Oct. 2, will explore new topics each week. Classes will be held at the AgriLife Extension office in McLennan County, 4224 Cobbs Drive, Waco.
The cost is $15 and online registration is available at https://tx.ag/diabetesworkshop. Deadline to register is Sept. 30.
About the program
Do Well Be Well with Diabetes is an educational program to help people with Type 2 diabetes learn the skills they need to understand and manage their diabetes, to reduce their risks from complications and to attain their highest possible level of wellness.
Participants will receive facts about diabetes from diabetic experts and professional educators. The class will be led by Rachel Esquivel, AgriLife Extension family and community health agent for McLennan County.
Topics to be discussed include:
- How food affects your glucose.
- Improving your blood glucose control with physical activity.
- Improving your blood glucose control with medication.
- Are you eating the right number of carbohydrates?
- Having your cake — or snack — and eating it too.
