Drug Trends and Impacts on Military Adults webinar scheduled for March 13
Focus on military service members and families; impact on their community
The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and OneOp will host the webinar “Drug Trends and Impacts on Military Adults: Practical Suggestions for Mental Health Professionals” on March 13.

The free webinar will be from 10-11:30 a.m. on OneOp, a virtual professional development platform for providers who serve military families.
Participants can register by visiting https://tx.ag/DrugTrends. Once registered, participants will receive a confirmation email containing the webinar link.
About the webinar
The webinar will explore the challenges faced by military service members and their families related to current drug trends. It will also include a discussion on the cumulative effects of deployments on mental health and the potential relationship between substance use.
The focus will be on military service members, families and their impact on their community.
The webinar will be presented by John Haenes, chief operations officer of Challenge of Tarrant County and a recognized expert in addiction and adolescent brain development.
Learning objectives
- Identify the impact of current drug trends on military families and communities.
- Examine how military-related factors may influence substance-use patterns.
- Discover strategies for clinically engaging military service members and their family members impacted by or experiencing substance-use disorder.
- Describe at least one change communities can make to support people with substance-use disorders.
