International dish cooking series set for Aug. 7-28 in La Marque
Program features cuisine from Poland, India, Mexico and the Philippines
The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service office in Galveston County will host a Cooking Well Exploring Cultures cooking series featuring international dishes in La Marque.
Courses will be from 6-8 p.m. each Wednesday Aug. 7-Aug. 28 at the AgriLife Extension office in Galveston County, 4102-B Main St. The cost to register is $35 per course, and attendees should preregister at https://tx.ag/CookingWellInternationalFood.
Space is limited and registration deadlines are:
- Aug. 7 course deadline: Aug. 5.
- Aug. 14 course deadline: Aug. 12.
- Aug. 21 course deadline: Aug. 19.
- Aug. 28 course deadline: Aug. 27.
Nutritional, international dishes will be explored
Taught by Ginger Benson, AgriLife Extension family and community health agent in Galveston County, participants will learn how to increase nutrition knowledge, food safety practices and healthy cooking techniques through the lens of cultural foods.
Benson said the program also aims to expand ingredients and techniques familiar to participants to increase confidence when cooking diverse recipes.
Course schedule
The courses will cover the following countries:
- Aug. 7: Poland.
- Aug. 14: India.
- Aug. 21: Mexico.
- Aug. 28: the Philippines.
Participants can take home recipes for each dish covered in the classes.
