Real-world scenarios and tools will be shared to help providers
The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and OneOp will host a webinar, “Navigating SSDI and SSI: Support for Military-Connected Families and Caregivers,” on Aug. 6.

The free webinar will take place from 10-11 a.m. on OneOp, a virtual professional development platform designed for providers serving military families.
Participants can register by visiting https://tx.ag/SSDI. Once registered, participants will receive a confirmation email containing the webinar link.
About the webinar
The webinar will offer a focused look at Social Security Disability Insurance, SSDI, and Supplemental Security Income, SSI, specifically in the context of military-connected populations.
Participants will gain a deeper understanding of eligibility criteria, application processes and how SSDI and SSI interact with other benefit options. The session will also address considerations for caregivers supporting wounded warriors, veterans with disabilities or dependent family members with special needs.
The webinar will be led by Rhonda Romero, public affairs specialist with the Social Security Administration.
Learning objectives
- Differentiate between SSDI and SSI, including key eligibility requirements and benefit structures.
- Identify how SSDI and SSI intersect with other benefit options.
- Recognize the unique challenges and opportunities caregivers may encounter when supporting military-connected individuals applying for disability benefits.
- Apply strategies and resources to assist military families in navigating the Social Security Disability process.
- Locate and utilize tools, agencies and referrals to support service delivery and coordination of benefits for military-connected caregivers.
