About the cooking class

The Mediterranean diet is a way of eating and preparing foods in the U.S. based on traditions from Italy, Greece and other countries that border the Mediterranean Sea.

Plant-based foods including whole grains, vegetables, legumes, fruits and nuts, herbs and spices are the foundation of the diet. Fish, dairy, poultry and seafood are all eaten in moderation, and olive oil is a main source of fat in this type of diet.

Rachel Esquivel, AgriLife Extension family and community health agent for McLennan County, will teach the class. For more information, contact Esquivel at [email protected] or 254-757-5180.
