PRAIRIE VIEW–The Cooperative Extension Program at Prairie View A&M University hopes to attract as many a 600 business-minded teens to an entrepreneurial symposium planned April 22-26 in Houston.
Extension will host the Sixth National Youth Entrepreneur Symposium (YES), designed to inspire, motivate and nurture a whole new generation of business professionals, including those as young as 13.
The symposium will be held at the Sheraton Astrodome Hotel in Houston, and its co-host is the National Coalition for Empowering Youth Entrepreneurs. Participation for the symposium is limited to the first 600 registrants. Teens, youth-serving agencies and persons interested in youth entrepreneurship are encouraged to attend.
The Youth Entrepreneur Symposium is specifically designed for teens to showcase their business talents and for teens interested in becoming entrepreneurs. Activities at the symposium will include exhibits, youth forums, a market place where youth will talk about and display their business products, Houston area tours, a fashion show, a plenary panel for teens who have experience in owning and operating a business and much more.
One of the guest speakers for the event is Jim “Mattress Mac” McIngvale, owner of Gallery Furniture in Houston.
