COLLEGE STATION — The Texas Agricultural Extension Service has announced two promotions that administrators say reflect the agency’s priority in creating an “organization that is able to respond to 21st Century issues.”
Dr. Margaret Hale has been named executive associate director-administration and Dr. Bonnie McGee has been appointed assistant director-urban programs, according to Dr. Chester Fehlis, Extension Service deputy director.
Hale most recently was assistant director for family and consumer sciences. She also has served the Extension Service as a county agent in McLennan, Limestone and Falls counties, and was district director for family and consumer sciences headquartered in Stephenville for five years.
She will be in charge of the day-to-day administrative operations of Extension as well as coordination of the agency’s program leaders.
McGee, who had been interim assistant director for urban programs since January, joined the Extension Service as assistant to the director in 1989. She also has served as director of the Americorps project for Extension and has been a county agent and administrator with Extension in Colorado and New Hampshire.
In her new role, McGee will coordinate programs among the six largest urban counties in Texas, as well as extend development of urban programs in other cities and suburbs in the state.
