FORT WORTH - Entomologists from the Southwest plan to share their fascination with the world of insects with 5th graders during a regional meeting in Fort Worth.
Insect Expo, a hands-on introduction to insects, is set for Feb. 8 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Ramada Plaza Hotel.
More than 600 students from the Fort Worth area will see and touch all kinds of insects, and even cheer for their favorites in the cockroach races. The hardier ones may taste “crispy critters” when scientists fry up some crickets or mealworms. Also, seven teams of students will compete for prizes in an insect trivia quiz bowl modeled on the College Bowl television show.
It is sponsored by the Southwestern Branch of the Entomological Society of America and Tarrant County Extension Service.
