FORT McKAVETT – ”Capitalizing on Natural Resources,” a day-long nature tourism workshop, is set for April 10 at Camp Sol Mayer.
Camp Sol Mayer is about five miles south of Highway 190 on FM 864. The workshop is sponsored by the Texas Agricultural Extension Service and the Extension agricultural committees in Menard and Schleicher counties.
“Outdoor recreational pursuits continue to reap big dollars for many West Texas ranchers,” said Scott Edmonson, Schleicher County Extension agent and a workshop coordinator. “This workshop offers a wide spectrum of topics for both the newcomers to recreational land use as well as those folks who are old hands in the industry.
“Our purpose is to bring them up to date on the latest tools, legislation, and techniques available. The workshop will feature speakers who are regionally recognized. It should be time well spent for anyone interested in any facet of outdoor recreation in West Texas.”
The pre-registration deadline is April 6. Pre-registration cost is $20 per person. Registration after April 6 and at the door is $25 per person. A barbecue lunch will be provided with registration.
