DALLAS — Believe it or not, the holiday season is almost here again. Getting ready for the annual festivities can be a challenge.
To help with the holiday spirit, Texas Cooperative Extension and Collin County Extension Education Association will host its annual “Be Holiday Smart” program Nov. 7 in the Whitehurst Education Building at Texas A&M Dallas. The Dallas Center is located at 17360 Coit Road (between Campbell Road and Highway 190).
“This event will begin at 9:15 a.m. with registration and refreshments; it will conclude at noon,” said Carrie Brazeal, Extension agent for family and consumer sciences in Collin County. “A silent auction featuring hand-crafted items will be held during registration and end when the program starts at 10 a.m.”
Featured activities include a fashion show and a demonstration on easy holiday centerpieces.
“Chico’s Holiday Fashion Style Show will feature holiday and winter fashions, as well as accessories for all ages,” said Brazeal. “Need something for that special party or family function? Maybe a holiday gift? You will probably find it here.”
‘Christmas Creativity’ will be presented by Todd Williams, Extension agent in Rockwall County. “He will show you how easy it is to make holiday centerpieces using dried and natural items as well as things you find around the house,” said Brazeal. “You will be amazed at how beautiful and easy your centerpieces will be.”
A highlight of this event will be a drawing for a handmade quilted wall hanging. Winner of this one-of-a-kind item will be announced at the conclusion of the program at noon. Donations are $1 each or six for $5 and may be purchased at the door.
Door prizes will be given during the morning. Silent auction winners will be announced at the conclusion.
Tickets for this event are $5 and may be purchased at the door. All proceeds are used to sponsor youth and educational scholarships. For more information, contact Brazeal at 972-548-4233 or metro 972-424-1460, Ext. 4233 or emailc-brazeal@tamu.edu.
