PRECISION AG MEETING SET FOR APRIL 15 IN LUBBOCK

LUBBOCK -– Farmers and agribusiness representatives can update their knowledge of precision agriculture and global positioning systems technology at an April 15 meeting at The Texas A&M University System Agricultural Research and Extension center.

“We will provide producer-oriented reviews of the some the latest precision agriculture technology,” said Randy Boman, Texas Cooperative Extension cotton agronomist based at Lubbock. “Our speakers will include Extension specialists, Experiment Station researchers and agribusiness representatives.”

The meeting will be from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The center is north of Lubbock on Interstate Highway 27. Participants should take exit 11, turn right on FM 1294, and drive one-half mile east. Topics will include variable rate fertilizer application, remote sensing, high-tech sprayers, yield mapping, equipment guidance systems, and precision agriculture software. Workshop participants can qualify to earn three continuing education units approved by the Texas Department of Agriculture.

“There is no cost to attend, but pre-registration is required so we an effectively plan the noon meal and ensure that enough hand-outs are available for everyone who attends,” Boman said.
