COLLEGE STATION - Dr. Fuller Bazer, associate vice chancellor of agriculture and life sciences at Texas A&M University, received an honorary doctoral degree of science from The University of Guelph on June 17.
Bazer, a professor, O.D. Butler chairholder in the animal science department at Texas A&M, and associate director of the Texas Agricultural Experiment Station, spoke at the College of Biological Science and Ontario Veterinary College graduation.
As associate vice chancellor, Bazer oversees biotechnology, bioinformatics and life sciences programs. Bazer was a graduate research professor in the departments of animal science and pediatrics at the University of Florida from 1968 to1992.
Bazer earned a bachelor of science degree in biology from Centenary College of Louisiana in 1960 and a master of science degree in animal science from Louisiana State University in 1963. He earned a doctorate in animal science at North Carolina State University in 1969.
Bazer has contributed to the field of reproductive biology in uterine biology, establishment of pregnancy, pregnancy recognition in pigs and ruminants, and reproductive efficiency.
