COLLEGE STATION - Dr. Andy Vestal, Texas Cooperative Extension agricultural education specialist, was chosen to chair the Institute of Food Technologists’ Government Regulations Committee during the group’s recent annual meeting in Orlando.
He will provide leadership for science, policy and government relations through the institute’s professional staff in Washington, D.C.
The government relations committee includes 10 of the world’s top food scientists and educators who provide leadership and advice on food and agricultural related issues to federal agencies, policy makers, mass media and consumers.
The Baird native was Extension agent in Crosby County from 1981-1988, Hockley County from 1988-1990 and Bexar County from 1990-1994. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Tarleton State University in 1977, a master’s from Texas Tech University in 1982 and a doctorate from Texas A&M University in 1998.
