DALLAS – A class for creating compost will be held Oct. 14 at the Texas AgriLife Research and Extension Center in Dallas.
The class will be held in the pavilion at the center, 17360 Coit Road, Dallas, and will run from 6:30-8:30 p.m. The cost is $10.
It will be taught by Dr. John Sloan, a soil scientist with the Texas AgriLife Research and Extension Center in Dallas. The class will teach participants the key steps in building an active, functional compost pile in their backyards using whatever organic residues they have available, he said. Compost, which can include organic waste or lawn trimmings, can be used as fertilizer in home gardens or in potting soil for indoor and outdoor planters.
