COLLEGE STATION – Dr. B. Wade Brorsen has been inducted into the Tyrus R. Timm Honor Registry in the Texas A&M University Department of Agricultural Economics.
The registry recognizes outstanding former students for meritorious accomplishments in their field. It is the highest department-level honor and is named after Tyrus R. Timm, who led the agricultural economics department from 1953 until 1973 during its rise to national prominence in teaching, research and Extension. Timm was known for his knowledge of finance and agricultural banking.
Dr. B. Wade Brorsen has been inducted into the Tyrus R. Timm Honor Registry in the Texas A&M University Department of Agricultural Economics. Brorsen, an economist at Oklahoma State University, is a regents professor as well as an A.J. and Susan Jacques Chair.

Brorsen received his doctorate in economics from Texas A&M, and master’s and bachelor’s degrees from Oklahoma State. Additionally, he has a master’s in statistics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
“Wade has had a substantial impact on the state of Oklahoma and the U.S., as well as the agricultural economics profession, through teaching and research,” said Dr. John Nichols, department head for agricultural economics at Texas A&M. “His research productivity is impressive, with more than 175 journal articles published in top journals of the agricultural economics profession.”
Brorsen has received the outstanding journal article of the year award from the Journal of Agricultural and Resource Economics in 2005 and the Journal of Agricultural Applied Economics in 2011.
“His work has been cited more than 800 times,according to the Social Science Citation Index, making him one of the most frequently cited agricultural economists in the world,” Nichols said.
Nichols said Brorsen’s involvement in agricultural economics has resulted “in a strong record of service.”
Brorsen has served on numerous departmental, college, university and professional committees. He teaches an undergraduate futures market class, graduate-level production economics and advanced econometrics at Oklahoma State.
