COLLEGE STATION – The Texas Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory has named Dr. Matt Cochran as its assistant agency director.
Cochran will administer and manage diagnostic services for TVMDL’s College Station laboratory. He also will serve as liaison with TVDML clients and partner organizations, including Texas Animal Health Commission, Texas Department of State Health Services, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
“This is an important position for TVMDL, and I am pleased to have someone of Dr. Cochran’s caliber to fill this role,” said Dr. Tammy Beckham, TVMDL director. “In addition to his broad knowledge of the agricultural industries, his expertise in emergency management and information technology will serve us well. ”
Cochran holds a bachelor’s degree in biomedical science, a doctorate in veterinary medicine and a master of international affairs degree – all from Texas A&M University. He comes to TVMDL from the Texas Animal Health Commission, where he had served as the assistant executive director of administration and disease traceability since 2009 and as the emergency management veterinarian from 2007-2009. Before that, Cochran was a staff veterinarian with Global Genetics & Biologicals in College Station.
