FORT STOCKTON – The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will conduct a pesticide management workshop beginning at 8 a.m. Nov. 8 at the Pecos County Civic Center, 1674 Airport Drive, Fort Stockton.
“This workshop’s subject matter focuses on homeowners and those with small acreage, but many of the techniques discussed are applicable to properties of all sizes,” said Norman Fryar, AgriLife Extension agent in Pecos County.
Topics and speakers will include:
– Weed and Brush Management of Landscapes, Small Acreages and Rights of Way, Dr. Alyson McDonald, AgriLife Extension range specialist, Fort Stockton.
– Laws and Regulations Concerning Pesticides and Their Application, Mario Saavedra, Texas Department of Agriculture inspector, El Paso.
– Urban Integrated Pest Management, Dr. Mark Muegge, AgriLife Extension entomologist, Fort Stockton.
– The Visual Effects of Tebuthiur on Creosote and Tarbush, Preston Erwin, U.S. Department of Agriculture Natural Resources Conservation Service range specialist, Fort Stockton.
Two types of Texas Department of Agriculture continuing education units will be offered. For structural applicators there will be one general law, one general integrated pest management, one weed and one landscape and ornamentals offered. For commercial, non-commercial and private applicators, there will be two general, two integrated pest management and one laws and regulations continuing education units available.
Registration is $20.
