TYLER — Professionals who manage residential landscapes, parks, commercial properties and golf courses are encouraged to attend the Earth-Kind Landscape Workshop Dec. 5-6 in Tyler.
Experts will address landscape issues during the two-day course at the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service Smith County office, Smith County Cotton Belt Building, 1517 Front St., Tyler.
Continuing education credits will be offered. Registration is $120 prior to Nov. 23 and $150 thereafter. Single-day registration is available for $80 before Nov. 23 or $100 thereafter.
Speakers include Dr. Mengmeng Gu, AgriLife Extension horticulturist in College Station; Dr. Allen Owings, Louisiana State University Ag Center; Dr. Brent Pemberton, Texas A&M AgriLife Research, Overton; Keith Hansen, AgriLife Extension Smith County agent; and Steve Chaney, AgriLife Extension Tarrant County agent.
Topics include dealing with drought using Earth-Kind landscape principles, planting, bedding plant performance, pesticide handling and safety, tree and shrub pruning, and landscape and pesticide calculations.
Participants will also hear about identifying woody and herbaceous plants for use in landscapes, disease problems, fertilizing trees, shrubs and flowers, weed control, insect problems and water quality.
