SAN ANTONIO — The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in Bexar County will present an intermediate-level Backyard Basics poultry program called “Keeping Your Hens Healthy and Happy” from 6-9 p.m. Nov. 14 at agency offices in Suite 208 of Conroy Square, 3355 Cherry Ridge Drive, San Antonio.
“Keeping chickens in the city can be fun and rewarding,” said Bryan Davis, AgriLife Extension agent, Bexar County. “This program will cover how to care for laying hens, particularly in relation to nutrition, disease prevention and flock management.”
Davis said the program is part of AgriLife Extension’s Backyard Basics series focusing on home-grown and homemade foods. The series is being piloted in Bexar and nearby counties. More information on upcoming programs can be found at http://bexar-tx.tamu.edu.
Registration for the program is $20 per person. RSVP to Angel Torres at 210-467-6575 or matorres@ag.tamu.edu.
