GARDEN CITY – The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will conduct the Rainwater Harvesting and Drought-Tolerant Plant Workshop from 6-8 p.m. July 2 at the Glasscock County Community Center, 117 S. Myrl St. in Garden City.
“Rainfall is arguably our most precious natural resource in West Texas,” said Rebel Royall, AgriLife Extension agent in Glasscock County. “Now that some of us are getting some rain, we want to help people maximize the wise use of this precious commodity through rainfall harvesting and the use of drought-tolerant plants in the landscape.
“Jeff Floyd, AgriLife Extension horticulture agent for Midland and Ector counties,will be our keynote speaker,” Royall said. “He’ll be discussing how a properly constructed and maintained rainwater harvesting system can be used as a viable alternate or supplemental source of water for home and landscape use for years to come. The practice also helps to control stormwater runoff, thus helping to reduce pollution in our rivers and streams.”
