ROCKSPRINGS – James D. Crockett III is the new Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service agriculture and natural resources agent for Edwards County, according to area AgriLife Extension officials. He also will oversee the county’s 4-H and youth development program.
Crockett, 23, will work from the AgriLife Extension office at 100 W. Main St. in Rocksprings. He will provide educational information and technical assistance to agricultural producers in Edwards County, plus work with agents in other counties to benefit area agriculture and agribusiness.
“Kathleen Greer, the district administrator for AgriLife Extension’s District 10, and I have worked hard over the past months to hire the best possible applicants out there,” said Todd Swift, AgriLife Extension regional program leader. “We feel James brings skills and enthusiasm for the job that will help him excel in AgriLife Extension education and be an asset to Edwards County.”
Crockett has a bachelor’s degree in agricultural leadership and development from Texas A&M University, College Station. He previously worked for Texas A&M as a transportation professional and was a camp group leader with Faith Lutheran Church in Bellaire.
“I’m excited to be working for AgriLife Extension in Edwards County, and feel I have the educational background and skills needed to help the residents of the country, both the agricultural and the 4-H aspects of the job.” Crockett said.
