SEGUIN — The Guadalupe County Master Gardeners will hold a meeting at 7 p.m. Oct. 16 at the Justice Center, 211 Court Street in Seguin that will feature a presentation called Food Forests: Perennial Forest Gardening Systems.
The meeting, which is free and open to the public, will include a social function beginning at 6:30 p.m.
The Master Gardeners of Guadalupe County is an educational and volunteer program offered by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service.
“Kirby Fry, who is the featured speaker at our meeting, has been a permaculture teacher and design consultant for more than 15 years,” said Dave Elder, a Guadalupe County Master Gardener.
Elder said Fry has experience with conventional agriculture and forestry, having studied these disciplines at Texas A&M University in College Station. He added that Fry also has experience as a building contractor.
“Mr. Fry studied natural resource conservation at Texas A&M University and also served in the Peace Corps in Guatemala, working in the area of agroforestry,” he said. “We know people who attend this meeting will gain a good understanding of permaculture and other natural gardening systems from Mr. Fry due to his extensive and varied experience.”
