AgriLife Extension to offer Rain Barrel Workshop Jan. 8 in San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO — The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will present a Rain Barrel Workshop from 9 a.m.-noon on Jan. 8 at the AgriLife Extension offices for Bexar County.

The program will be in Suite 208 of the east court of Conroy Square business complex, 3355 Cherry Ridge Drive in northwest San Antonio.

Presenters will be AgriLife Extension water programs coordinator Troy Luepke and Bexar County Master Gardener rainwater specialists.

“A rain barrel is a container that collects and stores water for when you need it most,” Luepke said. “You conserve water and benefit your plants and garden by providing them with fresh, natural rainwater.”

He said attendees will learn to make their own rain barrel to take home.

“A basic rain barrel for home use is relatively easy and inexpensive to make, and you can get all of the components you need locally,” he said.
