VEGA – Chelsey Eicke may have deep roots planted in agriculture, but her heart is with another part of Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service’s educational outreach.
Eicke has been hired as the new family and consumer sciences agent for Oldham County. She began July 20 and will spend the next month in AgriLife Extension’s First Step training program in Deaf Smith County.
“We are very excited to have Chelsey join our AgriLife Extension team in Oldham County,” said Brandon Dukes, AgriLife Extension district administrator in Amarillo. “She brings enthusiasm and fresh ideas and has a heart for helping people.”
Eicke grew up on a small ranch near San Jon, New Mexico, and earned her bachelor’s degree from Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, New Mexico.
“I grew up involved in FFA and started my college education in an ag-oriented degree plan, but working closely with the family and consumer sciences program there, I felt like that was a better fit for me.
“If I can help make a family more self-sustainable or a community more productive, that is ideally what I want to do.”
