UVALDE – Samantha Korzekwa is the new Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service agent for agriculture and natural resources in Uvalde County.

In this role, Korzekwa will work with agricultural producers and landowners in Uvalde County to provide them with information and technical assistance on how to apply research and best management practices to their operations. She will also work with youth development through Texas 4-H program clubs in Uvalde County.

“Samantha has a strong agricultural background,” said Todd Swift, regional program leader for the agency’s South Region, Uvalde. “That background, coupled with her desire to help people and provide public service will make her succeed in her AgriLife Extension work here in Uvalde County. She has already met with a number of growers and producers and is involved in setting up programs for these and other county residents.”

Korzekwa has a bachelor’s degree in horticulture from Texas A&M University in College Station. Before joining AgriLife Extension, she was a student worker in horticulture at the university. In that position, she helped organize and prepare Junior Master Gardener and Learn Grow Eat Go! programming, edited the Growing and Nurturing Healthy Communities pilot curricula and served as a conference planner and coordinator.

Her additional agricultural experience includes working in her family’s business, James and Gina Korzekwa Seed, located in Stockdale.

“I feel really fortunate to have the opportunity to help serve the residents of Uvalde County,”  Korzekwa said. “Even before I became an ag agent, I felt I had the background, skills and personality to be one. So now that I am ‘officially’ an ag agent, I am looking forward to building relationships and making myself a go-to person for those needing advice and information related to agriculture and other topics.”
