Media Advisory: 63rd Texas A&M Beef Cattle Short Course Aug. 7-9

COLLEGE STATION – The 63rd Texas A&M Beef Cattle Short Course is scheduled Aug. 7-9 on the campus of Texas A&M University in College Station.

Multiple sessions will be held during the three-day event that focuses on beef production, management, market outlooks and the future of the industry. The Aug. 7 afternoon general session will feature export beef markets with producer presentations as well as a domestic beef cattle price outlook.

Speakers and topics Aug. 7 will include:

– Dr. Derrell Peel, Oklahoma State University livestock economist, Domestic Beef Cattle Market Outlook.

– Erin Borror, U.S. Meat Export Federation economist, What Does the Export Market Mean to Cow-Calf Producers?

– Kelley Sullivan, co-owner Santa Rosa Ranches, Export Markets: A Rancher’s Perspective.

– Brian Bledsoe, Southern Livestock Standard meteorologist, Weather Outlook.

The Cattleman’s College portion of the short course will feature workshops on cattle production, forage management practices, nutrition and reproduction, record keeping, genetics and purebred cattle and stocker cattle management.
