OVERTON – A Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service pesticide applicator training program is scheduled for Nov. 29 in Overton.
The program begins at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 3 p.m. at the Texas A&M AgriLife Research and Extension Center, 1710 N. Farm-to-Market Road 3053.
The cost is $35 for attendees who preregister and pay by Nov. 25 and $50 for onsite registration. Register online at https://agriliferegister.tamu.edu/ or call AgriLife Extension Conference Services at 979-845-2604.
AgriLife Extension experts specialists Drs. Jason Banta, beef cattle specialist, Vanessa Corriher-Olson, forage specialist, Overton, and Lindsay Hoffman, turfgrass specialist, Dallas, will cover a wide range of topics related to pasture and lawn management.
“This program covers numerous topics applicable to ranches and lawns,” Corriher-Olson said. “There will be information for cow/calf operations and pasture production, and a turfgrass specialist will be on hand to cover aspects of lawn care.”
Topics include weed control strategies for pastures and hayfields; best management practices and weed management for home lawns; what pesticide labels tell users; and misconceptions regarding chemicals and hormones.
Five Texas Department of Agriculture continuing education units, including one laws and regulations, one integrated pest management and three general, will be available.
Area pesticide and other agricultural vendors will also be on hand.
