Battleground to Breaking Ground agriculture workshop set Dec. 6 in Belton

Texas AgrAbility and the Battleground to Breaking Ground project, in collaboration with the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service office in Bell County, will host an agriculture program Dec. 6 focused on veterans, individuals with disabilities, and beginning farmers and ranchers

The program will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the AgriLife Extension office for Bell County, 1605 N. Main St., in Belton. The cost is $25, and lunch is included.

“The Battleground to Breaking Ground program is designed primarily for military veterans, but anyone interested in starting or expanding an agriculture-oriented business is welcome to attend,” said Makenzie McLaurin Thomas, AgriLife Extension program manager for Texas AgrAbility, College Station. “And although Texas AgrAbility helps people with disabilities remain in production agriculture, you don’t need to be disabled to participate in the Battleground to Breaking Ground program.”

Workshop sessions will address agriculture business startup, business plan development, opportunities for farming/ranching with a disability, financial funding sources and marketing agricultural business support resources.
