The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will host the Llano Estacado Cotton Conference on Feb. 4 at the Bailey County Electric Cooperative, 610 E. American Blvd., Muleshoe.
The program will begin with registration at 8 a.m. and will run from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Three Texas Department of Agriculture general continuing education units will be issued.
The cost is $15 at the door and includes lunch.
“This multi-county event is the collaboration of the AgriLife Extension offices in Bailey and Parmer counties in order to address the concerns of cotton producers in our area,” said Curtis Preston, AgriLife Extension agent, Bailey County.
Program topics and speakers will be:
- Pre-plant considerations and variety trial results, Jourdan Bell, Ph.D., AgriLife Extension cotton specialist, Amarillo.
- Cover crops and soil health, Katie Lewis, Ph.D., Texas A&M AgriLife Research soil scientist, Lubbock.
- Disease and nematode management, Cecilia Monclova, Ph.D., AgriLife Extension plant pathologist, College Station.
- Resistant weed management, Peter Dotray, Ph.D., AgriLife Extension weed specialist, Lubbock.
- Cotton marketing opportunities, John Robinson, Ph.D., AgriLife Extension cotton marketing economist, College Station.
- Advances in Irrigation Management, Jim Bordovsky, Ph.D., AgriLife Research, Halfway.
