The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service offices in Ochiltree and Lipscomb counties will host the annual Northeast Panhandle Crops Conference for area crop producers on March 3.
The conference will be held at the Ochiltree County Expo Center, 402 Expo Drive, Perryton.
Registration will start at 8:30 a.m., with speakers beginning at 9 a.m. and finishing at noon. The registration fee is $10. Lunch will be provided.
“One thing that could be new and interesting for producers is the carbon farming topic,” said Scott Strawn, AgriLife Extension agriculture and natural resources agent in Ochiltree County.
“This will be a basic overview of a potential new income source for producers and landowners,” Strawn said. “I highly encourage producers to begin learning what this is all about because carbon credits will continue to evolve and become more of a factor in crop production income in the near future.”
Producers attending will also have the opportunity to earn three Texas Department of Agriculture continuing education units – two general and one integrated pest management.
