Texas Master Gardener plant sale set April 2 in Georgetown

Event to feature native, adapted plants and expert advice

The Texas Master Gardeners of Williamson County will hold their annual plant sale April 2 in Georgetown, featuring plants suited for the region. The sale will take place at the Georgetown Community Center, San Gabriel Park, 445 E. Morrow St.

Texas Master Gardeners is a Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service program.

The event will begin at 9 a.m. with the presentation “Native and Adaptive Plants” by Master Gardener Wayne Rhoden.

The plant sale will start at 10 a.m. Cash, check and credit cards will be accepted for payment.Attendees are requested to bring a wagon or cart for their plant purchases.

Also opening at 9 a.m. will be the Junior Master Gardener booth with free activities for youth and information about the program. Williamson County 4-H will also sell food items in the food court as part of a fundraising event.

Plants for sale

“There will be native and adapted perennials, grasses, vines, succulents, annuals and herbs that are sourced and grown in this area,” said Kate Whitney, AgriLife Extension horticulturist for Williamson County.

For a preliminary list of plants available and additional information, visit https://tx.ag/WillPlantSale22. Whitney said the final 2022 plant list will be posted a week before the sale and may include some different varieties based on popularity and availability at the time of sale.

Attendees should print the list and bring it with them if possible as a limited number of copies of the final list will be available at the check-in table.

“The sale is an indoor event so regardless of what the weather decides to do, attendees can shop in heated- or air-conditioned comfort.”

Whitney said shoppers should come early for the best selection as many plant varieties will sell out early.

There will also be a Texas Master Gardeners Help Desk to assist with gardening- and horticulture-related questions. Master Gardeners and Whitney will be available for advice and recommendations.
