The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will hold the Overton Pesticide Continuing Education Units Program online on Nov. 3. The program, which will be on the Zoom platform, is open to applicators across the state.
The event is organized by Vanessa Corriher-Olson, Ph.D., AgriLife Extension forage specialist, Overton, and Jason Banta, Ph.D., AgriLife Extension beef cattle specialist, Overton.
The cost is $35 and advance registration is required at https://tx.ag/Nov3PesticideWebinar. Once registered, practice sessions will be offered for those who want to check out the process of connecting online and viewing program materials.
Five Texas Department of Agriculture continuing education units are available: one laws and regulations, one integrated pest management and three general.
“This program provides an opportunity for producers to get five CEUs for their pesticide license from the comfort of their homes,” said Corriher-Olson. “Weed control will be an important component of forage management as we recover from drought in the future, as will the management of forage insect pests.”
She said that as areas receive rainfall this fall or next spring, fall armyworm control will be critical in order to protect valuable forage.
The webinar will be divided into two sections with a break for lunch. The morning session will be from 8:30 -11:30 a.m., and the afternoon session will begin at 1 p.m. and conclude around 3 p.m.
