Earth-Kind Landscape Design and Management School set Feb. 25-26 in McKinney

McKINNEY — The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will present the 2017 Earth-Kind Landscape Design and Management School Feb. 25-26 at Myers Park and Event Center, 7117 County Road 166 in McKinney.

The course will be from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Feb. 25 and from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Feb. 26.

“During this unique educational experience, you will learn how to design, plant and manage a landscape that is beautiful, low-maintenance, tolerant to heat, drought and torrential rains, and the ultimate in environmental responsibility,” said Dr. Steve George, AgriLife Extension landscape specialist, Dallas.

George, creator of the Earth-Kind environmental landscape management system, will be the lead instructor and will conduct all design consultations.

“No previous design, planting or management knowledge is needed,” he said. “The course will consist of an in-depth classroom program, outdoor laboratory session, plus a personalized extended 1.5-hour landscape design consultation to be conducted a few weeks later.”

George said as a further benefit of participation is that in early summer those who attend will be able to tour the highly regarded Texas A&M Earth-Kind plant trials at Myers Park.

“This course is an outstanding value for everything attendees will get from their participation,” George said. “By the end of the course, attendees will have been given a wealth of landscape knowledge and will leave with a labeled working landscape plan for a major landscape area of their choice.”

The cost is $295 per household. Class size is limited so attendees are encouraged to enroll as soon as possible.
