ARCHER CITY – The third annual Rolling Plains Sheep and Goat University will be hosted Aug. 14 at the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service office for Archer County, 512 W. Cottonwood St., Archer City.
“Each year this program draws more interest and we’re excited to be able to offer this education to a growing number of producers in our region,” said Josh Kouns, AgriLife Extension agriculture and natural resources agent for Baylor County.
The program will begin at 1 p.m., and a $10 fee will be due at the door.
Presentation topics include:
- Pasture Management – Grazing with Cattle, Dr. Reid Redden, AgriLife Extension state sheep and goat specialist, San Angelo.
- Parasite Control in the Flock, Redden.
- Sale Barn Marketing Techniques, Joshua Smartt, AgriLife Extension agriculture and natural resources agent, Archer County.
- Beginning Producer/Banker Discussion, T.J. McEwen, banker and producer.
- Use of Guard Dogs, Bill Costanzo, AgriLife Exension guard dog specialist, San Angelo.
- New Scrapie Tag Rules, Texas Animal Health Commission representative.
- AgriLife Extension’s Path to the Plate program with lamb and goat slider samples.
The program and the evening meal are sponsored by Central Texas Farm Credit and Capital Farm Credit.
