SAN ANGELO William “Bill” Thompson, was named the economist for Texas Cooperative Extension’s West Central District earlier this month.
His office is located in Angelo Statue University’s Management Instruction and Research Center, 7945 Grape Creek Road.
Thompson’s responsibilities include developing educational programs in farm, ranch and natural resource management in the district’s 23 counties. He has expertise in wheat, grain sorghum, cotton, cow-calf, stocker cattle, and water-related issues.
Thompson earned a master of science degree in agricultural economics from Texas A&M University at College Station and a bachelor of science degree in agribusiness management and marketing from Arizona State University at Tempe, Ariz..
He was the Extension economist at Fort Stockton from July 2001 to this February. From October 1990 to June of 2001, he was an economist with Kansas State Research and Extension.
Thompson fills the position vacated by Dr. Jason Johnson who transferred to Stephenville.
