CLAUDE – Whitney White has been hired by the Texas AgriLife Extension Service to serve as the agricultural and natural resources agent for Armstrong County, according to Danny Nusser, AgriLife Extension district administrator in Amarillo.
“We are very excited and fortunate to have Whitney White as a new AgriLife Extension employee,” Nusser said. “She has the energy and people skills to do an outstanding job as the agriculture and natural resources agent in Armstrong County.
“The qualities that stood out to me were her personality, work ethic and heart,” he said. “Whitney wants to help people, and she has rural, small-town values that will ensure her success.”
White was raised on a ranch near Dalhart and has an extensive background in both 4-H and FFA. She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from West Texas A&M University in agricultural sciences and agriculture, respectively.
While at West Texas A&M, she was recognized as the Outstanding Agriculture Education Senior and served as president of the collegiate FFA, as well as served as a graduate assistant for Dr. Lance Kieth.
“I love the small-town atmosphere of Claude,” White said. “I feel like the whole community will be involved. I look forward to helping grow community support.
“I also want to figure out what the producers need and be able to provide them the programs and support they wouldn’t normally get on a day-to-day basis,” she said.
