Texas tough plants will be topic of June 9 program in Austin

AUSTIN – The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in Travis County will offer another program in its Dealing with Drought series June 9 in Austin.

The program, called Texas Tough Plants, will be from 10 a.m. to noon at the AgriLife Extension office for Travis County, 1600-B Smith Road.

“If you’re looking for colorful, low-maintenance plants for your garden, this program will introduce you to some beautiful and functional Texas native plants that are well adapted to handle our state’s blazing summers, drought and other weather extremes,” said Daphne Richards, AgriLife Extension horticulturist for Travis County. “In addition to being water-wise, native plants provide great benefits to pollinators and birds.”

Richards said Texas Master Naturalist Meredith O’Reilly will present the program.

The cost is $15 and no cash will be accepted; payment by check or credit card only.

Richards said space is limited, so attendees are encouraged to register as soon as possible to reserve a seat.
