AgriLife Extension’s Living Waters Conference July 13 in Junction

          JUNCTION – The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will conduct the Living Waters Conference from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. July 13 at the Coke Stevenson Center, 440 N. U.S. Highway 83 in Junction.

“We’ve had a wonderful spring with abundant moisture, but we know water conservation is still a must for those living in our part of Texas,” said Sam Silvers, AgriLife Extension agent in Kimble County. “The whole idea behind this two-county program is to not only raise awareness about water issues, but also offer ways to address them.”

The AgriLife Extension offices in Kimble and Menard counties are the conference hosts.

Three Texas Department of Agriculture continuing education units – one integrated pest management and two general – will be offered.

Topics and speakers will include:

— Feral Hogs and Their Impact on Riparian Areas, Dr. John Tomecek, AgriLife Extension wildlife specialist, San Angelo.

— Stream Trailer Demonstration and Surface Groundwater Management, Dr. Allyson McDonald, AgriLife Extension range specialist, Fort Stockton.

— Watershed Management, Billy Kniffen, AgriLife Extension retired water resource specialist, Menard.

— Ecological Benefits of Brush Management, Dr. Robert Lyons, AgriLife Extension range specialist, Uvalde.
