The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will hold an event for pesticide and structural applicators on Nov. 17 in Fredericksburg.
The cost is $75. Preregistration is required by noon on Nov. 15 at https://tx.ag/Nov17CEU. Breakfast and lunch are included.
Onsite registration will begin at 8 a.m. and the event will conclude at 2:30 pm at the AgriLife Extension office in Gillespie County, 38 Business Court.
“We invite both private and commercial pesticide applicators in the Hill Country to come out and join us for this annual event,” said Brad Roeder, AgriLife Extension agriculture and natural resources agent for Gillespie County. “We pride ourselves in bringing in some of the best speakers as well as providing an awesome barbeque lunch for the attendees.”
Five Texas Department of Agriculture continuing education units are available. Agricultural applicators may earn two general, one laws and regulations, and two integrated pest management units. Agricultural applicator CEUS are good for commercial, non-commercial and private agricultural applicator licenses.
For structural applicator license holders, the CEUs are one general other, one general laws and regulations, one lawn and ornamental, one weed control and one pest.
Applicator speakers, topics
The experts speaking at the event will be Brittany Chesser, Ph.D., AgriLife Extension aquatic vegetation management specialist, Bryan-College Station; Kevin Ong, Ph.D., plant pathologist and director of the Texas Plant Disease Diagnostic Laboratory, Department of Plant Pathology and Microbiology, Bryan-College Station; and Bob Davis, Ph.D., technical services representative and board certified entomologist with BASF, Ogallala, Nebraska.
The program will cover the following pesticide topics:
- Pest ant control.
- Killing weeds in and around water features and ponds.
- Laws and regulations regarding aquatic weed control.
- Keeping landscape plants healthy.
