A pecan field day on April 11 in Waco will be hosted by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service horticulture committees and Texas Master Gardener programs in Bell, Bosque, Coryell, Falls, Hill and McLennan counties.
The event will be held from 9-11:45 a.m. at Russell’s Pecan Orchard, 12633 Gholson Road. Check-in and door prizes will take place at 8:30 a.m. The cost to register is $10. To advance register or for more information, contact the AgriLife Extension office in McLennan County at 254-757-5180.
There will be one Texas Department of Agriculture integrated pest management continuing education unit available for private pesticide applicator license holders. Breakfast will also be provided.
The field day will feature presentations and demonstrations and the latest trends in growing pecans.
The speaker will be Monte Nesbitt, Ph.D., AgriLife Extension horticulture program specialist in the Department of Horticultural Sciences, Bryan-College Station.
